We are devastated at the passing of our beloved friend and contributing editor Nathália Urban. Nathália was a guerreira who fought fearlessly to let the truth be known through Brazil’s darkest period in modern history.
Whilst we spend these distressing days in grief and remembrance, we will shortly prepare a proper celebration of her work and legacy, to be published here in due course.
Below is an official statement, prepared together with close friends and colleagues at her bedside in the hospital where she lay, with the approval and blessing of her family in Brazil.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Nathália Urban.
Nathália was a revolutionary who spent her life fighting for human rights.
She feared no one when searching for the truth and defending minorities from abuses across the world.
She was also a daughter, sister, and comrade.
Nathália’s work and revolutionary spirit leaves with us her biggest legacy. Millions watched and felt empowered by her.
Her struggle will be kept alive by all those who accompanied her in the fight for a more just, equal, and humane world.
