If you live in the United States, chances are you have probably encountered a Salvation Army volunteer ringing a bell outside of a supermarket.
Dressed in red, standing alongside a donation pail hanging from a chain, Salvation Army volunteers are a sign Christmas is near and a great reminder it’s always better to give than to receive.
Most volunteers are only known to their communities and are rarely known on the world stage. But that wasn’t the case outside of a Publix in North Tampa, Florida.
Super Bowl champion head coach for the Indianapolis Colts Tony Dungy was spotted by several football fans ringing bells for charity.

On his Twitter account earlier in the month Dungy tweeted out: “We are out ringing bells for the Salvation Army Red Kettle at the Publix at the Apex in North Tampa. If you’re close come by and see us tonight and make a holiday donation for the needy!”

If you’re unfamiliar with Dungy, he is one of the few former NFL players and former head coaches who have been outspoken about Christ.
Dungy started his career playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers where he was part of the Super Bowl 13 championship team.
He would then go on to coach the Indianapolis Colts to a Super Bowl win in 2007.
After his coaching career ended, Dungy published best-selling books such as Quiet Strength, which talks about how his faith helped guide him to overcome the tragic death of his son James.
